Centre Approves Rs 6,466 Cr Package For Telecom Services In Rural Areas
Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved the package of Rs 6,466 crore for telecom services in remote areas. The Electronics and Information technology Minister, Ashwini Vaishnaw stated that the aim is to boost connectivity and introduce 4G services in remote areas. He added, "As many as 7,287 villages, 44 districts and 5 states will be covered in the project. Furthermore, the services will reportedly start in the next 18-24 months.
