China Jails Blogger Claiming More Deaths At Galwan Clash
China on June 1 announced eight months jail for blogger Qiu Ziming for ‘defaming military’. Stating that Ziming “infringed on the reputation and honour of heroes and martyrs” the court ordered him to publicly apologise within 10 days. Ziming claimed that the death toll in China-India clash at Galwan was higher than official claims. Reportedly, Qiu is first to be jailed under the provision which criminalises “defamation of martyrs and heroes”.
