Editors Guild Pens PM Modi, Seeks Revocation Of Digital Media Rules
The Editors Guild of India has urged the Centre to revoke the recently issued new digital media rules. Urging for a "meaningful consultation" and "constructive approach", the Guild has written to PM Narendra Modi, IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad and I&B minister Prakash Javadekar in this regard. It also termed the rules "onerous and regressive" and highlighted its provisions that accord government excessive power to block/modify/delete digital content, hampering constitutional freedom of speech and expression.
