Eluru's Mystery Illness Deepens; Latest Report Finds Pesticides Use
In Andhra Pradesh’s Eluru mystery illness case, the National Institute of Nutrition has now found rice and vegetables adulterated with excess of mercury and pesticides respectively. The NIM report has also found traces of organophosphorus in the blood samples. However, the suspicion of heavy metal in water and milk were overruled by the labs. The scientists also fear that due to excessive use of insecticides and pesticides, chemicals might have reached into the bodies.
