Explosive-laden Truck Blasts, Kills 8 At Railway Site In Karnataka
Massive explosion at Railway’s boulder crushing facility in Karnataka's Shivamogga district on January 21 killed eight people. The incident took place at around 10:30PM when a truck carrying gelatin - an explosive used in mining - blasted. The jolts, which were initially mistaken for an earthquake, had cracked the roads and vibrated the adjoining areas of Chikkamagaluru and Davangere districts. PM Narendra Modi in a tweet paid condolences to the victims of the accident.
