Florida Plans To Include Pythons As Dish To Manage Overpopulation
As a measure to curb the population of the Burmese Pythons, the health officials in Florida are considering to include reptile meats in food-menus. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, in collaboration with the Florida Department of Health, are analyzing 'mercury deposition' in Pythons since they top the food chain. Reportedly, South Florida that predominantly witnesses python encounters has eliminated over 6,000 such snakes from Everglades wetland under the "Python Elimination Programme".
