Germany Accepts Committed Genocide In Namibia During Colonial Rule
Germany on May 28 officially acknowledged the genocide in Namibia during the colonial-era of African country. Seeking forgiveness from the victim Namibians and their descendants, Germany’s minister Heiko Maas announced to provide development programme worth €1.1 bn. To be paid over 30 years, the programme includes infrastructure, healthcare and training programmes for impacted community. Reportedly, German colonisers killed thousands of Herero and Nama people in Namibia in 20th century.
