Parliament Clears National Commission for Allied, Healthcare Professions Bill

The Parliament, through the Lok Sabha's voice vote on March 24, cleared the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions Bill, 2021. The bill, incipiently tabled by Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan, stipulates a statutory body for authorizing even education and professional standards for paramedics and allied healthcare workers. Reportedly, the commission, alongside a two-term Chairman and Vice-chairman, will comprise members representing all states/UTs modulating standards to make healthcare multi-disciplinary and patient-oriented.
