Salman Rushdie underwent surgery after being attacked at literary event in New York, and he is on ventilator and may lose an eye. Rushdie, an Indian-born British writer who got death threats from Iran for his novel "The Satanic Verses," was "stabbed" in the neck and once in the abdomen onstage on August 12. Previously, police identified the attacker as Hadi Matar, while the reason for the crime is unknown.
