Statue Of 18th Century Lesbian Pirate Couple Restored In Britain
To express the gender-neutrality of Britain, a statue of two lesbian pirates - Anne Bonny and Mary Read - has been restored at London's Execution Docks. Designed by artist Amanda, the couple sculptured were among the most famous pirates of the 1700s. History professor Kate Williams said, “They broke gender boundaries and stunned people at the time.” The statue will be moved to Burgh Island in 2021.
