Thailand Imposes Emergency To Curb Student-led Democracy Protests
Cracking down on student-led peaceful protests, Thailand government has declared an emergency, banning large gatherings. Besides, the government arrested major student leaders in the wee hours and also deployed riot-police. It has also put restrictions on media coverage. Reportedly, the major leaders arrested include human rights lawyer Anon Nampa and student activist Parit Chiwarak. The protestors' demands include PM Prayuth’s resignation, curbs on Thai King's powers and rewriting of the Constitution.
