Three Stolen Statues of Vijayanagara Period Returned to India from UK
The High Commission of India (HCI), London, with the support of London Metropolitan Police, has recovered three statues dating to Vijayanagara period. Reportedly, the statues were stolen from Vishnu Temple, Nagapattinam in 1978. Union Minister of Culture and Tourism Prahlad Patel lauded the efforts of HCI (London), Archaeological Survey of India and Tamil Nadu government. He added that 43 artefacts have been handed over to India in PM Modi's regime.
