West Bengal Police Creates 'SHARK' Unit to Tackle Maoist Groups
West Bengal's Jhargram Police have created a counter-insurgency unit, 'SHARK', in Jangalmahal area. The 30-member team is formed after recent suspicious Maoist activities in Belpahari police-station limits. SHARK commandos, capable of blindfold shooting, have been trained in jungle-warfare and will be assisted by Counter Insurgency Force and CRPF. They will be sent to fight urban-terrorism and rescue-missions. The Maoists are moving from Jharkhand to create a base here, Intelligence reported.
