American Airlines-IndiGo Signs Codeshare Agreement In India

Nepalese Airline Losts Contact Hours After Take Off, 22 Passengers On Board

In Nepal, a private airlines plane with 22 passengers including four Indians has gone missing in the mountainous region of the Himalayan. The plane named the Twin Otter 9N-AET plane belonging to Tara Air, which took off from Pokhara on the morning of May 29, lost contact with the tower 15 minutes after it flew, confirmed airlines spokesperson Sudarshan Bartaula. Notably, it is suspected that the plane has crashed.

IndiGo Suffers Huge Loss In Q4 2022 Amid Omicron Variant

Airlines IndiGo suffered a huge net loss of Rs 1,681 crore in the quarter ending March, said company on May 25.  The airlines' Q4 loss was said to be 46.6% close to Rs 6,161 crores, more compared to the loss in 2021, which was Rs 5,806 crores. Notably, Covid-19's Omicron variant and deduction in travel demand was one of the major reason behind the loss.

Jet Airways Appoints 4 New Executives, Announces Airlines

Indian Airlines, "Jet Airways" announced new executives for the company on May 23. The appointment came days after aviation regulator DGCA granted a revalidated Air Operator Certificate, which permits commercial flight operations for the airlines. Prabh Sharan Singh, HR Jagannath, Mark Turner, and Vishesh Khanna are new executive officers. Notably, Singh will take charge on June 1, Turner on June 15, and Khanna will join in July.

Civil Aviation Minister Urges Airlines To Add Long-Haul Jets

The civil aviation minister on March 25, urged the Indian airlines to add more long-haul aircrafts and increase the flights abroad. During an air show in Hyderabad, Jyotiraditya Scindia stated that Domestic passenger numbers are expected to exceed pre-pandemic levels within one year. Domestic Flights Can Operate With 85% Passengers Of Pre-COVID: MoCA

The Ministry Of Civil Aviation in its new order on September 18 allowed domestic airlines to run up to 85% of their pre-COVID flight capacity considering the number of COVID-19 cases going down in India. Notably, it is the fourth hike in the flight capacity from 50% since July 2021. The hike also crossed the limit of 80% of the capacity, which was allowed in December 2020.

Journalist Issues Legal Notice To Air India For Data Breach

Ritika Handoo, a Delhi-based journalist has issued a legal notice to the Air India management on July 5 for the recent leak of personal information of 4.5 million passengers.
