Ahead of the 2024 National Elections, Union Minister Smriti Irani wrote a letter to the Indian Railway Minister, demanding change of station names. Dates October 21, in the letter, Irani sought name change for stations in Amethi;  Kasimpur should be changed to Jayas City. 2. Jayas to Guru Gorakhnath. 3. Bani to Swami Paramhans. Misrauli to Maa Kalikan, Nihalgarh to Maharaj Bijli Pasi, and two others, to the Indian Railways.

In Uttar Pradesh's Amethi, a revenue officer allegedly committed suicide on July 4. The incident occurred in Jais area, where Ram Sagar (56), revenue officer in Amethi Tehsil, was found hanging from the ceiling of his room. Deputy Superintendent of Police Ajay K Singh said that the exact reason for his suicide is yet to be ascertained. Reportedly, Sagar's body has been sent for post-mortem and further details are awaited.

Rashmi Yadav (33), a woman sub-inspector was found hanging from the ceiling in her quarter, on April 22. Yadav, who was posted at the Mohanganj police station, went back to her quarters in the afternoon. When a constable was sent to her quarter, the doors and windows were locked. After Superintendent of Police approved to break the locks, the officials went inside Yadav's quarter and found her body hanging. 

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will visit Amethi in the poll-bound Uttar Pradesh on December 18, and lead a foot march "BJP Bhagao, Mehangai Hatao". The campaign is a part of 'Jan Jagran Abhiyan,' Congress' nationwide campaign launched on November 14, to expose the economic mismanagement of the Center.
