Fully Jabbed People Can Use Mumbai Locals From Independence Day

Mumbai local trains will resume from August 15 for fully vaccinated people as declared by Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray on August 8. Online and offline issuing of passes will be made available to the passengers. Passengers can issue their monthly train passes through an app, while photo passes will be available at the ward offices and train stations for fully jabbed people who lack smartphones.

Mumbai's Nair Hospital Gets Maiden 'Genome Sequencing Lab'

Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackrey virtually inaugurated Mumbai's first genome sequence laboratory at the Nair hospital to battle the Covid-19 pandemic. The Next-generation Genome Sequence (NGS) is capable of analyzing a large number of samples and give results quickly. "The hospital was set up 100 years ago with the help of philanthropists and today as well, donors have come forward. This is the tradition," Thackrey said.

Maharashtra Floods: Death Toll Reaches 112, 99 Still Missing

The death toll in the Maharashtra flood has reached 112 with 99 still missing and 53 injured as the numbers will likely rise with National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) still locating more bodies. "Government will carry out rehabilitation measures,’’ CM Uddhav Thackeray said. Districts like Ratnagiri and Raigad were allowed Rs 2 crore while other affected districts were given Rs 50 lakh each from the State Disaster Response Fund.

Maha CM Asks PM Modi To Increase 50% Reservation For Marathas, OBCs

Maharashta Govt To Launch Jail Tourism On Republic Day

As an endeavour to facilitate public visits to the state's historically relevant prisons, the Maharashtra government will launch its latest jail tourism initiative on January 26. CM Uddhav Thackeray and Deputy CM Ajit Pawar will inaugurate the jail tourism drive at Pune's Yerawada Central Jail. In light of the coronavirus pandemic, only 50 visitors will be allowed per day. Reportedly, tickets will be priced from Rs 5 to Rs 50.

10 Infants Killed In Fire At Child Care Unit Of Maharashtra Hospital

In a tragic incident, a fire outbreak at 1:30 AM on January 9 killed ten infants in Maharashtra's Bhandara District Hospital. However, seven children from the age of one-day to three months were saved by the firefighters after the severe fire broke out in the Sick Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) of the hospital. While reason of the fire is unclear, CM Uddhav Thackeray has ordered a probe and announced Rs 5 lakh compensation.
