Congress party demanded a 'regulated fees' for private medical colleges and raised the issue in the 'Zero Hour' of the Rajya Sabha, on April 5. Stating that there are only 53% of government medical colleges, there is a need for regulation in fees for private ones.  Furthermore, Congress' Jairam Ramesh said, "the belief that private medical education will form the foundation of medical education in this country is deeply flawed".

Ahead of Assembly elections in Goa, scheduled in single phase on February 14, Congress party has released the third list of candidates. The former state minister Michael Lobo, who left the BJP to join the Congress will contest from the Calangute constituency. The MLA candidate list on its Twitter handle which includes Anthony-L-Fernandes, Lavu Mamlekar, Prasad Gaonkar and others. Notably, the counting of votes will take place on March 10.

Oscar Fernandes, an accomplished Kuchipudi dancer, former union minister, and veteran Congress leader passed away on September 13. The 80-year-old was quite famous for handling tricky diplomatic situations in the North-East during his ministry. Following the resignation from Congress on the morning of August 16, former Lok Sabha MP Sushmita Dev joined the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) in the presence of party leaders Abhishek Banerjee and Derek O'Brien. Dev submitted her resignation to Congress President Sonia Gandhi and tweeted "she is inspired by West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee". Besides, AITC tweeted, ''We warmly welcome...Sushmita Dev to our Trinamool family!''

Veteran Congress leader AK Walia passed away at 72 on April 22 due to COVID-19. The former Delhi government minister died at the city's Apollo Hospital. Walia, who represented the Laxmi Nagar constituency in the Delhi Assembly for four terms, was admitted to the hospital a few days ago after testing positive for coronavirus. Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia also expressed his grief over Walia's death.
