Govt Revises EV Rules, Allows Charging From Existing Power Connection

The Union Government revised rules of Electric Vehicle (EV) charging. Issued on January 17, as per new rules, EV owners are now allowed to charge their EVs using existing power connection at homes/offices. In addition, the Centre also approved government land allotment to private entities (with highest bid) to set up Public Charging Stations (PCS) for EVs, in phases. Notably, EV sales are expected to increase by 2030.

Indian Startup Mints $28 Mn In Seed Funding To Manufacture Electric Vehicles

Elon Musk On Entering Indian Market: Says, Currently Negotiating With Indian Govt

Replying to a Twitter user who wished to know about the launch of Electric Vehicles in India, Elon Musk said that he is still working to negotiate with the Indian Government. The Government has asked them to elevate local procurement and share comprehensive information on manufacturing plans. Elon had earlier stated that India has heavy import duties and it treats clean energy vehicles the same as petrol.

Delhi Govt To Allows Entry OF Vehicle Run On CNG From Nov 27

The Delhi Government announced to allow entry of electric vehicles and CNG vehicles in Delhi from November 27. In order to reduce air pollution, the AAP Government had imposed a ban on the entry of vehicles running on other fuels on November 22. The implemented measure would be in effect till December 3. In addition, schools, colleges, and other educational institutions will be shut until November 28.

Tesla Requests Modi To Reduce Import Tax On Electric Vehicles

Tesla is set to enter the Indian markets, but before that, the company has requested PM Narendra Modi to reduce the import taxes on electric cars. Reportedly, a meeting was held between officials on the same issue, last month. Furthermore, the company has also urged for a meeting between Elon Musk and Modi. Tesla Shouldn't Sell Made In China EVs In India, Says Nitin Gadkari

While speaking at a media Conclave, Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari on October 8 said he has asked Tesla ''don't sell electric cars in India'' which is manufactured in China by it. However, he also said the government would provide all the support if Tesla would manufacture its iconic electric vehicles in India.
