Ban On Import Of Computers & Laptops, Govt Issues Notice
India has restricted imports of laptops, tablets and personal computers with immediate effect, according to a government notice on August 3. A notice issued in this regard read, "Their import would be allowed against a valid licence for restricted imports." The notice further read, "The said Restriction shall not be applicable to Imports under Baggage Rules, as amended from time to time."

Pakistan Govt Increases Tax On Luxurious Item Import Amid Economic Crisis
In order to attract the IMF deal, the Pakistan Government announced a hike in taxes on import of luxurious items. The increased taxes on import of items like cars, home appliances, chocolates and cosmetics to 25%. The decision was taken after a go-ahead from the Pakistan Parliament, to attract the IMF loan of 6 billion, which has been in talks, which has created a struggle for economic survival for Pakistan.

No Plans To Import Wheat From Different Countries, Clarifies Govt
Dismissing the reports of food grains import, the Union Government and Department of Food & Public Distribution said, India has no plans of importing wheat. On August 21, the government said, "The country has sufficient stocks to meet our domestic requirements and FCI has enough stock for public distribution". Although severe heat waves earlier this year affected crops, especially wheat, there is no shortage in India for people.

China Imposes Trade Ban On Taiwan Amid Pelosi's Visit; Halts Import Of Fish, Fruits & Others
Amid US House speaker Nancy Pelosi's visit to Taiwan, China has issued a ban against Taiwanese imports, and has halted all trade-related activities with the island nation, on August 3. China's consul general in Karachi Li Bijian said that from August 3, China has suspended imports of citrus fruits, chilled white hairtail and frozen horse mackerel from Taiwan. China has also suspended two types of fish products from Taiwan.

Indian Government Decreases Base Import Price Of Palm Oil While Raising Price Of Soy Oil
India has reduced the basic import costs of crude and refined palm oil while increasing the price of crude soy oil, according to a government statement issued late on May 31. Every two weeks, the government updates the basic import prices for edible oils, gold, and silver, which compute the amount of tax an importer must pay. India permitted duty-free imports of 2 million tonnes of soy oil last week.

India Eyes Deeper Discount On Russian Oil
India is eyeing a deeper discount on Russian oil. The country is reportedly seeking Russian cargoes at less than 70 US dollars per barrel. This could make up for additional obstacles, like securing financing for purchases. India imports around 85% of its oil. India is among the few nations that still purchases crude oil from Russia, which is a significant source of revenue for the Russian regime.

US House Passes Bill To Ban Imports From China's Xinjiang

India Charges Anti-Dumping Duty On Chinese PET Imports
Expressing concerns regarding domestic manufacturers, India charged anti-dumping duty on China on the imports of bottle grade Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET).
