Aadhaar Data Breach Allegation On Puducherry BJP Credible: Madras HC
The Madras High Court on April 1 held that BJP’s Puducherry unit breached and misused Aadhaar data in its election campaign. Listening to a PIL, the HC confirmed that BJP sent campaign-related messages to only Aadhaar-linked mobile numbers. While the BJP’s Puducherry unit and UIDAI has denied using and lending numbers for political use, the court ordered the Aadhaar regulatory body to answer why the data breach was not avoided.

Apex Court Extends Parole For A.G. Perarivalan By A Week
Instructing the police to accompany AG Perarivalan during his medical check-ups, the Apex Court on November 23 lengthened his parole by one week. Perarivalan, who is serving a life sentence for Rajiv Gandi's assassination was earlier granted parole by Madras High Court, which was due on November 23. The 46-year-old had been awarded a death sentence which was reduced to life imprisonment in 2018. He has been imprisoned since 1991.

Madras High Court Issues Notice to AR Rahman for Evading Tax
Music composer AR Rahman on September 11 has received a notice from the Madras High Court for evading income tax on Rs 3.47 crore for the year 2011-12. The Income Tax department has alleged that Rahman diverted his remuneration of Rs 3.47 crore to his charitable trust instead of his own account. Reportedly, the sum was paid to Rahman for composing ringtones for a UK-based telecom company.
