2 Monkeys Captured For Killing Over 250 Dogs For Revenge: Maharashtra

Maharashtra's Forest Department captured two monkeys in Beed on December 18, who reportedly killed 250 dogs. ''Both the monkeys are being shifted to Nagpur to be released in a nearby forest,'' said Sachin Kand, Beed Forest Officer. The monkeys were taking revenge from dogs after a few dogs killed an infant monkey, according to the villagers. They reportedly killed dogs and puppies by throwing them from a considerable height.

Lucknow Metro Uses Langurs' Cutouts To Keep Away Monkeys

To keep away monkeys at metro stations in Lucknow, the metro authorities have placed the cutouts of langurs at nine metro stations in the city. Moreover, metro officials also play voices of 'angry Langur' to scare the mischievous animals. Reportedly, monkeys cause annoyance to the commuters and they also risk their lives while roaming at the metro tracks. However, the new idea has resulted in positive outcomes.

Belgian Woman Claims 'Affair' With Chimpanzee; Zoo Authorities Ban Entry

Belgian woman Adie Timmermans's unconditional love for a 38-year-old chimpanzee named 'Chita' led her to be banned from visiting the Antwerp Zoo. Responding to the question of zoo authorities, she said that she is having an affair with Chita. However, the authorities were concerned about the chimpanzee as the other monkeys ignore him and don't consider him as a part of their group.

UP: Monkey Flees With Bag Having Rs 4 Lakh; Throws Money Out

A monkey intercepted an elderly man's bag comprising Rs 4 lakh outside Vikas Bhawan Registry Office in Uttar Pradesh’s Sitapur district. The animal fled with the bag and climbed on a tree, where it had tossed away approximately Rs 10 to 12 thousand. However, it left the bag after a while. Langurs Are Adapting To Food Habits Of Humans, Finds Study

A study funded by Department of Science and Technology and headed by Calcutta University has observed 'hanuman langurs' are adapting to food-habits of people. Generally used to scare monkeys in cities, the herbivore animal is now eating bread and processed peanuts as they co-exist with humans. Scientists fear that this adaptation might not be good for the langurs in the long run as they may develop diseases due to obese.
