China Demolishes Around 16,000 Mosques: Human Rights Report

An Australia-based human rights report has stated that thousands of mosques have been demolished in the Xinjiang province of China. Reportedly, satellite imagery has indicated that around 16,000 mosques have been destroyed in the past three years. Besides, human rights activists claim that over one million Uighurs and other Muslims, especially Turkic-speaking, have been confined in camps across the northwestern territory.

Mosque in Ayodhya Will Not be Named 'Babri Masjid': IICF Spokesperson

Athar Hussain, secretary and spokesperson of the Indo-Islamic Cultural Foundation (IICF), confirmed that the Mosque to be built in Ayodhya will not be named 'Babri Masjid' nor will it be named after any ruler. He added that the shape may also be different while the measurement will remain the same. IICF has planned to launch a portal to collect funds from donors for a museum, research center and hospital.

Bangladesh Mosque Blast: Court Orders Gas Agency to Compensate Victims

On September 10, Bangladesh Court ordered a public gas agency to pay compensation for the victims of the recent Mosque blast. Titas Gas- the public gas agency of Bangladesh, was given seven days to pay around Rs 4.35 lakh to the victims. The judgement came after families of victims filed a petition, claiming for compensation. Earlier, on September 4, a blast in a mosque near Narayanganj killed 29 devotees.

Telangana to Get a New Secretariat With Temple, Mosque, Church

Stating that his government practices religious tolerance, Telangana CM K Chandrashekhar Rao announced that the new secretariat complex will have a temple, two mosques, and a church. He said that the foundation stones for all of these will be laid soon after the end of the ensuing legislative session. He also called it as a symbol of "Ganga Jamuna Tehjeeb". The old secretariat in Telangana was brought down in July.

Ayodhya Mosque Will be Built Similar to Babri Masjid, Says Trust

Athar Hussain, spokesperson and secretary of the trust formed for Ayodhya's mosque construction, said that its size will be the same as that of Babri Masjid. He said that the size of the mosque will be around 15,000 square ft. Prof S M Akhtar, the dean of Jamia Milia Islamia's architecture department will head the design of the mosque. Reportedly, surrounding complexes of the mosque will include a hospital too.

Christchurch Shooter Tells His Plan to Family Minutes Before the Attack

The Christchurch shooter who killed 51 people at two New Zealand mosques had contacted his family via text just before the attack and has revealed his plan to them. The accused, Brenton Tarrant, told police he also had planned to burn the mosques and attack other Muslim places of worship as well. Reportedly, he wanted to kill as many people as possible. His four-day sentencing hearing began on August 24.

China Builds Public Washroom at a Demolished Mosque Site

In a move to break the community of Uyghur Muslims, China's Xinjiang province has built a public washroom at a demolished Mosque site. Experts suggest that it is a campaign to hurt the sentiments of the community, as previously two out of three Mosques were destroyed in the same area. "It is a public toilet, they have not opened it yet, but it has been built," said Uyghur Neighborhood Committee Chief.
