Nasik: IFS Officers Inspires Kids To Stops Bird Killing With 'Galor'

Anand Reddy, an IFS officer started the "Galor Samarpan Abhiyaan" by urging kids to give up killing birds with a galor (slingshot) while preaching the slogan "Galor Hatwa, Pakshi Bachwa (discard Galor, save birds)".  Reddy suggested a four-point solution by asking them to “voluntarily surrender galor”, thus, turning the Abhiyaan into a movement. "Kids from 68 villages took the pledge and 590 galors were voluntarily surrendered," he added.

Maharashtra: Nashik Authorities Charge Rs 5 Per Hour To Visit Market

As a crowd management measure, the authorities in Maharashtra's Nashik are charging Rs 5 per person for an hour to visit a market. Issuing the order, Nashik Police Commissioner Deepak Pandey said, "It's an attempt to save the city from entering lockdown". The decision has been taken in the wake of the increasing COVID-19 cases. Earlier, CM Uddhav Thackeray had warned of strict lockdown.

Former Maharashtra MLC Donates Her Gold Worth 20L To Armed Forces

Former member of Legislative Council Nishigandha Mogal from Maharashtra has donated her gold jewellery worth Rs 20 lakh. The sale proceeds will go towards the welfare of war widows and retired personnels. Nishigandha who served as MLC from 1996-2000 announced this while celebrating her 75th birthday. Moved by her effort PM Narendra Modi sent a letter of appreciation to her. Maharashtra: Nashik Man Takes Initiative To Conserve Godavari River

A Twitter post of IFS officer Swetha Boddu has brought a Nashik resident, named Chandra Kishore Patil, into limelight. Chandra stands beside the Godavari river everyday from morning till night and prevents people from tossing plastic bags into it. The IFS officer posted Chandra's photo on Twitter and praised his efforts to conserve the river. Patil has been doing this work for five years and wants to continue till he can.

Sharad Pawar Says Country Needs Comprehensive Policy To Tackle Onion Price Rise

Sharad Pawar has requested the onion traders of Nashik to reopen auctioning of onions in APMCs. He attributed the rise in its prices to Centre's decisions to ban onion export and limiting the stocking up of onions by traders.
