CSIR-IIP Develops Oxygen Enrichment Units; 500 Litres Of Oxygen In 60 Seconds

The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research-Indian Institute of Petroleum (CSIR-IIP), Dehradun unveiled oxygen enrichment units that can produce 500 litres of medical-grade oxygen per minute. Shekar Mande, the Director-General of CSIR said that the oxygen deployment could be possible within two to three weeks. Currently, CSIR-IIP is associated with Gaskon Engineering Company to increase the scale the production.

Centre Exempts Permit Need For Oxygen Carrying Vehicles Till Sept 30

The Road Transport Ministry has extended the permit exemption for vehicles carrying oxygen till September 30. Earlier, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Centre had announced an waiver for the permit requirement, under the Motor Vehicle Act 1998, till March 31. Home Ministry Request States to Ensure Restriction Free Movement of Oxygen Vehicles

The Home Ministry has directed all the states and UT to allow the movement of oxygen-carrying vehicles, across state borders without any restriction. Amid Medical Crisis MP Government Bans Industrial Use of Oxygen

Madhya Pradesh government on September 15 banned the industrial use of oxygen. The decision came after the 'suspension of supplies' from Maharashtra. Denying any crisis, Medical Education Minister Vishwas Sarang said it is just a part of short term plan. “We have got additional 30 tonnes of oxygen from SAIL plant in Chhattisgarh, but we need to be self-reliant soon," the minister added.
