Eight IITs Across Nation Run Without Chairman: Education Minister

Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of Education, India stated that there are eight IITs without a Chairman. In addition, he also mentioned there are five among these eight IITs which are functioning without a Director, despite the Lok Sabha being aware of the scenario. While addressing this, Pradhan also detailed a survey where STEM enrollment numbers were shared, that included 53,52,258 men and 40,70,533 women.

Survey Indicates 66% Urban Indians Most Worried About Coronavirus

Research company Ipsos' "What Worries the World" survey report has revealed that 66% urban Indians are worried about the coronavirus pandemic. Interestingly, the percentage saw a 21% increase from the previous numbers in April 2021. Only 50% Indians Wear Masks, Reveals Health Ministry Survey

A Health Ministry survey on May 20 indicated that 50% Indians still do not wear a mask despite the harrowing second COVID-19 wave. Conducted in 25 cities, the survey also revealed that 32% of the total mask wearing population have their nose exposed, while 10% wear it on the chin. More so shocking is only 7% of the population use masks properly i.e. covering their nose, mouth and chin.

Gujarat's Seismological Institute To Study 8 Earthquake-prone Cities

In order to study the seismic activity and earthquake possibility, the Institute of Seismological Research, Gujarat will study eight earthquake-prone cities from four states. The ISR, which won the bid ahead of IITs and IISc Bangalore, will prepare seismic microzonation maps for Amritsar, Varanasi, Lucknow,  Kanpur, Agra, Meerut, Patna and Dhanbad. Bank Accounts Operated By Women Increased Significantly: NFHS Survey

The fifth National Family Health Survey (NFHS) has concluded that the number of bank accounts operated by women has increased significantly. The figure has raised from 26.4% to 76.7% in Bihar, while in Karnataka it surged to 88.7% from 59.4%. Moreover, Assam and Gujarat rose by over 73% and 45% respectively. Besides, NFHS reported notable growth in the mobile phone user base and ownership of property among women.

Survey Suggests Only 7% Willing To Visit Cinemas After Resumption

A survey conducted by LocalCircles on 8,274 participants suggested that only 7% people were interested in visiting cinemas in the next two months. It mentioned that while 4% of the participants will go for a new movie, 3% are willing to visit cinemas in the upcoming months for any film. The survey also indicated, 74% are not interested in visiting theatres until there is an absolute solution for the pandemic.

Study Reveals Only 67% Farmers Informed About Farm Bills

A Gaon Connection's survey has revealed that only 67% of the participants (all farmers) had knowledge about the new 'farm bills'. The survey named "The Indian Farmer’s Perception of the New Agri Laws", revealed out of the 52% of farmers who oppose the laws, 64% knew the details of the bill and out of 35% supporting the laws, 82% were informed. The survey was conducted across 16 states, including 5,022 participants.
