Tripura CM Asks Bangladesh-Based IT Firms To Invest In State

Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb has asked Bangladesh-based IT firms to invest in his state. While speaking at the very first edition of the Digital Bangladesh IT Summit. He stressed that technology-driven trade can help ease the bilateral ties between the two neighbouring countries. "Bangladesh IT companies are welcome to invest in Tripura, and (to) take advantage of the incentives offered by the government," he said.

6 Rohingya Refugees Detained In Dharmanagar: Tripura

At Tripura's Dharmanagar railway station, six Rohingya immigrants have been detained, for traveling without valid documents, on April 28. The detained persons include three men, a woman and two children. While the woman possessed an identity card issued by the United Nations as a Rohingya refugee, others had no valid documents. The group was reportedly taken to Dharmanagar police station to ascertain their identities.

BSF Officer Shot Himself Dead In Tripura Headquarters, Case Registered

In Tripura's Dhalai district, a BSF officer allegedly shot himself dead outside his battalion headquarters in the Jawaharnagar area, confirmed BSF. Posted at MK Para border, the deceased was a native of Rajasthan. The reason behind the suicide is yet to be known and a case has been registered. Meanwhile, the body has been sent for postmortem and a detailed investigation has been launched.

Wild Bear Attacks Tribal Woman In Tripura

In Tripura's Tribal village, a wild bear attacked Mousanti Reang (45), a tribal woman, reported forest rangers. As per ANI, the incident was reported in Laxmicherra's tribal forest, where the woman went to search for fruits and vegetables, when a wild bear allegedly attacked the tribal woman, leaving her critically injured. She is currently being treated at GBP Hospital. Furthermore, an investigation into the matter is underway.

2 Arrested For Lynching 26-Year-Old Youth In Tripura Village

Another lynching incident was reported in Tripura village, on March 29. Two people allegedly thrashed a 26-year-old Litan Miah, after they suspected him to be a cattle lifter for smuggling. Soon, locals also joined the two accused, identified as Sentu Debnath (40), and Amal Chandra (50). The police rushed to the spot and took seriously injured Litan to hospital, where he died. Police arrested the accused and launched an investigation.

Tripura To Get 2nd Airport; Centre To Allocate Rs 500-600 Crore

Tripura is all set to get its second airport at Kailashahar, about 139 km away from the capital Agartala, in the Unakoti district. "People of Unakoti have been demanding for the airport for a long time and the central government is all set to fulfill their demands through this airport," CM Biplab Deb said. Meanwhile, the construction and related infrastructure development centre will release Rs 500 to Rs 600 crore.

Tripura Govt Allocates Rs 85 Crores For Tea Workers

Tripura Government has announced Rs 85 crores scheme to ensure the social security of over 7000 tea garden workers. Under the 'Mukhyamantri Chaa Srami Kalyan Prakalpa' scheme of Tripura Government, workers would get housing, rations. "The government decided to provide wages of Rs 176 per day to every worker while it was Rs 105 and at present, it is Rs 130 per person,"  said Tripura Minister.
