Primary School Teacher Conserves Water, Plants Trees To Help Villagers
Primary school teacher Bhaktaraj Garje tried all means to encourage students in Kulalwadi in Maharashtra’s Sangli district to attend schools, however, he failed. Later he realised that their absence from school is due to the water scarcity and migrant worker parents. To diminish the problem faced by the villagers, the 33-year-old teacher conserved crores of litres of water and planted 25,000 trees to bring prosperity to the village.

Youngster Plants 1 Lakh Oak Trees To Conserve Environment In Uttarakhand
To conserve the environment and groundwater due to the aftereffects of 2013 floods in Uttarakhand, a youngster has teamed up 150 people to plant trees. The 26-year-old Chandan Nayal has planted over 1 lakhs oak trees all over the state to conserve the groundwater. He has also built "Chal Khal"- a traditional water conservation method through pits. Chandan stated that he has ignored several humiliations since he wanted better earth.

UN Study States Water Shortage May Worsen Food Crisis
A report by the UN's Food and Agriculture Organization assessed that over 3 billion people are facing water scarcity, thus warned hunger and food shortages. The report highlighted that 60% of crop production and 80% of cultivable land are rainfed, hence demands sustainable use of water resources. It mentioned that food production techniques should be changed in order to lessen the emission of greenhouse gasses and prevent climate change.

Andhra Pradesh's Kadapa District Bags National Award For Water Conservation
Andhra Pradesh's Kadapa district received a national award from Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu under Jal Shakti Abhiyan for water conservation efforts. The district scored 84.84 to bag the first rank.
