Kolhapur: People Violate Health Norms Outside Govt COVID-19 Testing Centre
People in Kolhapur were seen violating COVID-19 norms outside an isolation hospital that is also a major swab testing centre, near the Major Dhyanchand Hockey Stadium. People queued, in front of the hospital to get tested, flouted social distancing norms blatantly. Moreover, no volunteers were present there to ask people to adhere to the health protocols. When asked why were people standing outside at such high temperature, a medical staff mentioned that the hospital had run out of testing kits; consequently, people were asked to wait. A college student, Amey Kavathekar, who visited hospital to get his father tested, said, "I cannot take the risk of getting my father tested here. It might get expensive but we are leaving for a private hospital." Recently, The Times of India had reported that 43% of the active COVID-19 cases of the district were recorded from Kolhapur City only.
