Rajasthan: Youth Congress Burn Effigies Of UP CM, PM Modi Over Hathras Case
In Rajasthan's Ajmer district, Youth Congress on October 2 burn effigies of UP CM Yogi Adityanath, PM Modi and "Corrupt Media" at prime locations in the city, expressing their resentment against both the UP and Central government regarding Hathras Rape Case. Ajmer Youth Congress' President Syed Yasir Chishti stated that they are "very upset and angry" with CM Adityanath as he "failed" to protect women in Uttar Pradesh. The party workers said that the Hathras victim got raped two times: "first time by those four men and second time by corrupt law and order of the state." They added that cremating the victim's body at midnight without informing her family was a ploy of authorities to conceal the proofs of rape. Around 70 Youth Congress workers participated in the "public awareness protest". Prior to protests, Youth Congress gave a memorandum to Ajmer District Collector on October 1, demanding justice for Hathras victim.
