UP: 21 Prisoners Refuse Parole Due To COVID, "Better Care In Jails"
In an interesting incident, 21 prisoners in Uttar Pradesh have denied to avail parole due to the COVID-19. The prisoners cited "better care in jails", including better health care and nutritious food, as prime reason to deny the parole that was being granted on the order of the Supreme Court. Earlier in 2020, nearly 11,000 prisoners were released on parole or interim bail in the state.
