Bihar Farmers Sells Paddy Below MSP; Blames PACS Of Late Procurement
Farmers in Bihar sold their produced paddy in the open market at rates 'below the Minimum Support Price', due to extended-delays during the paddy procurement process by Primary Agriculture Credit Society (PACS). Though the MSP is Rs 1868 per quintal, several farmers have sold the paddy at around Rs 800-1200 per quintal. Acknowledging the delay, the in-charge for procurement process said, "Procurement will speed up in the coming days."
