Centre Directs TN Govt To Scrap Permit For 100% Theatre Occupancy

Asking the Tamil Nadu government to strictly abide by the guidelines, the Home Ministry has sent a letter to the state opposing 100% occupancy of theatres. The letter, citing COVID-19 restrictions extended till January 31, has asked the state to scrap the complete allowance and work on 50% occupancy. Earlier, the Tamil Nadu government had permitted 100% occupancy after requests from various film stars to increase footfall in theatres before Pongal.
