Draupadi Murmu Becomes 1st Tribal Woman To Be President of India, Wins Majority
Draupadi Murmu became the first tribal woman to be elected as the 15th President of India on July 21. After rounds of voting, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate won with a huge margin of over 2,161 votes of the value of 5,77,777 against the UPA-candidate Yashwant Sinha, who secured 1058 votes of the value 2,61,062. With this, Draupadi Murmu was the clear winner of the 2022 Presidential elections.
