Govt Names Kalka Mail As Netaji Exp To Mark S C Bose's 125th Birthday
Union Railway Ministry has renamed the Howrah-Kalka Mail as Netaji Express to commemorate 'Parakram Diwas' or the 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose on January 23. The 130-year-old train is historically relevant considering how Bose used it to escape British imprisonment in 1941. He boarded the Kalka Mail to go Peshawar from where he reached Burma via Afghanistan, Soviet Union and Japan. Currently, the train runs between Kolkata to Kalka in Haryana.
