India Elected As Member of UN Body to Promote Women Empowerment; Beats China
India on September 15 beats China to become a member of the United Nation's Commission on Status of Women Economic (UNCSW). UNCSW is an international body, which promotes gender equality and women empowerment. India will serve as a member for four years - from 2021 to 2025. Ambassador TS Tirumurti, permanent representative of India to the United Nations, announced the news by tweeting, "India wins seat in prestigious ECOSOC body".
