India Witnesses 8.7% Increase in Rainfall; Only 41 Districts Remain Dry
India Meteorological Department (IMD) has reported that the country witnessed a 8.7% higher rainfall than the 'seasonal normal', in 2020. According to State Precipitation Index by IMD, only 41 districts are experiencing dry conditions, as compared to 122 districts in 2019. Reportedly, few districts in Manipur, Nagaland, Mizoram, Tripura, and west Uttar Pradesh have recorded deficit rainfall this year. Majority of areas will not experience any drought-like conditions, said experts.
