India's COVID-19 Recovery Rate Tops Global Chart, Leaves USA Behind
India has bagged the top spot in the global recovery rate of COVID-19 by contributing 19 percent to the world's recovery statistics. The Health Ministry's press release on September 19 stated that India has left the US behind in total recoveries, by crossing the 42 lakh mark. India also witnessed highest recoveries in past 24, taking India's recovery rate to 79.28%. The ministry mentioned that 90% of the new recovery rate is reported from 16 States/UTs. Maharashtra, with highest number of active cases, topped the states' list in the COVID-19 recovery rate, followed by Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Uttar Pradesh. These five states contributed 60% of the new recovery rate, with Maharashtra at 23% and Tamil Nadu at 5.8%. While India remains second in the tally of COVID-19 cases, the ministry stated that it has used a "comprehensive standard of care in clinical management and treatment protocols".
