SC Says Govt Doing Nothing To Check TV's Instigating Content
The Supreme Court on January 28 held that the government is “doing nothing” to check the “instigating” TV content. Hearing Jamiat-Ulema-I-Hind’s plea which blamed TV channels for hate-mongering over the Tablighi Jamaat event, the court lashed out at Solicitor General Tushar Mehta. Taking cognisance of the R-Day violence, the court said it was "not interested" in TV content if they do not incite violence but was "interested in broadcasts or programmes which have instigation effect.”
