Sri Lanka Asks India For Bridging Finance
Discussions were recently held between the Indian Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, and the Sri Lankan Finance Minister, Ali Sabri. Neighbouring country Sri Lanka, which has been facing an economic crisis, has asked India for bridging finance until the International Monetary Fund (IMF) supplies sufficient funds. It can even take four months for the IMF to provide the funds. A person familiar with the matter says Sitharaman was inclined to it.
