US To Provide Arms Worth $1.8 Billion To Taiwan
The US government on October 21 approved the sale of 135 'AGM-84H SLAM-ER missiles' and related equipment to Taiwan. The arms-deal amounting to $1.8 billion aims to improve Taiwan's defense against the looming threat from China. The arms, however, did not include 'MQ9 Reaper Combat Drones', requested earlier by Taiwan. Meanwhile, the US also advised Taiwan to strengthen itself and be capable of resisting an attack independently.
