US: Remdesivir Becomes First To Be Approved As COVID-19 Drug
Remdesivir has become the only approved drug to be used for COVID-19 treatment after receiving official nod from US' drug regulatory authority on October 22. Developed by Gilead Sciences, Remdesivir was one of the components of the drug regimen used to treat US President Donald Trump after he tested COVID-19 positive. Initially, it was used to treat Ebola and Hepatitis C. However, some medical experts have expressed apprehensions against it.
