Vietnam To Import Rice From Rival Exporter India After Decades
Quitting its decade-old stance, Vietnam will now import rice from its competitor and world's largest exporter of the grain, India. Reportedly, local prices of the rice in Vietnam have jumped to a nine-year high due to a domestic supply shock. India will export 70,000 tonnes of 100% broken rice to Vietnam at $310 per tonne for January and February. Rice Exporters Association president BVK Rao said Vietnam is importing from India because of "attractive" prices.
