Hindu Population Decreases By 75 Lakh Over 50 Years In Bangladesh
The population of Hindus reduced to 75 lakh in 50 years, while the total population doubled in Bangladesh, according to the country's latest census of 2011. As per the first census, conducted in 1974, there were 13.4 percent Hindus but the latest census revealed Hindus making up 8.5 percent of the population. The reason behind this has been reported to be an outward migration and minimum fertility rate in Hindus.

Shakib Al Hasan Surpasses Malinga, Becomes Highest Wicket Taker In T20Is
Bangladesh all-rounder, Shakib Al Hasan has surpassed Lasith Malinga, in becoming the leading wicket-taker in the T20I format. Al Hasan currently stands at the top with 108 wickets from 89 matches, while Malinga had taken 107 wickets in 84 matches. Shakib beat the record in the match against Scotland on October 17. 4 Killed After Hindu Temples Vandalised In Bangladesh
Several Hindu temples were vandalised by miscreants during Durga Puja festivities in Bangladesh. The incidents forced the Bangladesh Government to deploy paramilitary forces in over 20 districts after four people were killed and several left injured. As per reports, some incidents of blasphemy incited mobs to violence and killings. The southern town of Hajiganj was the epicentre of riots, where four people were killed.

NLFT Kills Two BSF Personnel Along India-Bangladesh Border
In an ambush attack, two BSF personnel were killed by a terrorist organisation NLFT along the India-Bangladesh border in Tripura’s Dalai on August 3. The attack took place post 6:30 AM. Between the victims, one was a Sub-Inspector of the Force. "During the fierce encounter, Sub Inspector Bhuru Singh and Constable Raj Kumar sustained fatal injuries and lost their lives," said a BSF spokesperson.

Flood In Bangladesh Claims 20 Lives; 300,000 People Stranded
Torrential rainfall resulting in floods has claimed 20 lives including six Rohingya refugees while over 300,000 people are being stranded in Southeast Bangladesh. Reportedly, as many as 36,000 people have been shifted to schools and cyclone centres. "Many homes are waterlogged. Thousands of people have not been able to get out for the last three days. The roads are all blocked,” said Tipu Sultan, a councillor in Jhilwanja Union.

Bangladesh Becomes First Country To Receive LMO Via India's Oxygen Express
The Ministry of Indian Railways has announced that India's oxygen express will transport the Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) for "the first time ever'' to its neighboring country Bangladesh. Reportedly, the train will leave with 10 containers rake for Benapole to deliver 200 metric tonnes of LMO. Notably, India started the train on April 24, 2021, for supplying oxygen across the country.
