China’s former deputy public security minister Sun Lijun has been sentenced to life imprisonment for allegedly accepting $91 million in bribe. He was also accused of allegedly “deserting” his post during China’s initial fight against COVID-19. The 53-year-old Lijun was initially sentenced to death. However, his punishment was commuted to life imprisonment. The coring held that Lijun has abused his power during 2001 to 2020.

In Uttar Pradesh's Ballia, a Sub Inspector, accused of taking a bribe of Rs 20,000 was suspended, on September 4.  Dinesh Sharma, the suspended officer who was posted as Sonadhi Police outpost in charge, allegedly asked for a bribe in an audio clip to withdraw a case against an accused.  Furthermore, a case has been registered and a detailed investigation has been ordered against Dinesh Sharma.

In the National Capital of Delhi, one Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) official was arrested by CBI for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 4 lakh, on June 21. Along with Joint Drugs Controller (JDC) Eswara Reddy, Dinesh Dua, Director of a Delhi-based private company was also apprehended. The duo was allegedly accepting the bribe to waive off the phase III clinical trial of Insulin Aspart injection. 

In Haryana's Yamunanagar district, the Haryana State Vigilance Bureau arrested Rajni Kant, Sub-Inspector of Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumers Affairs Department for taking bribes. As per ANI, Praveen Kumar, a resident of Noltha, filed a complaint against the SI and said Rajni Kant used to take a bribe of Rs 20,000 every month, to verify bills.
