Thootha, who's a taxi driver, said that he started the charitable venture in April 2020. He says ''he's just a channel'' to provide dresses to poor girls which he receives from the donation. So far, Thootha helped 260 brides free of cost.

In Rajasthan's Ranoli village, Sikar district, a family allowed their daughter, Kritika Saini, to ride a horse to mark the pre-wedding ritual of 'Bandori' to promote gender equality in society. The incident was reported on November 29 and Saini also wore a sherwani, a pagdi. Reportedly, she is a fashion designer and had designed the sherwani by herself.
