Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi Taken For Interrogation In Moose Wala Murder Case
The investigation in the controversial Sidhu Moose Wala murder case continued with the arrest of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. He was taken from Delhi's Tihar Jail for questioning after he was accused of Sidhu's murder. After Bishnoi's arrest, he filed a plea, as his name surfaced in the case. Notably, the plea was before the bench of the Acting Chief Justice an is likely to be heard on June 1.

Mumbai Blast 1993 Case, 4 Accused Remanded With CBI
A Mumbai court remanded four accused linked in Mumbai blast 1993 riot with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI,) on May 24. As per sources, Abu Bakar alias Abdul Gafoor, Syed Qureshi alias Rahat Jan Qureshi, Mohammad Shoaib Qureshi alias Shoaib Bawa, and Mohammad Yusuf Ismail alias Yusuf Bhatka were held by Gujarat's Anti-Terrorist Squad and have been remanded terror outrage, which claimed over 250 lives and left 700 injured.

Donald Trump Pays A $110,000 Penalty & Must File Papers To Conclude The Contempt Proceedings
Former US President Donald Trump has paid $110,000 in penalties on May 19 after being found in contempt of court for failing to reply to a civil warrant issued by the attorney general of New York. To get the contempt order removed, Trump must file further documentation. James, a Democrat, has claimed that her three-year inquiry found evidence that Trump's firm misrepresented asset values. The charges were denied by Trump.

Plea In Allahabad HC Demands Probe To Ascertain Presence Of Hindu Idols In Taj Mahal
A plea has been filed in the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High court, demanding a probe to ascertain the presence of Hindu idols inside the Taj Mahal. The petition especially calls for directions to the Archeological Survey of India to probe into the twenty-two closed doors inside the monument, to search for Hindu idols. The plea also relies on claims that Taj Mahal is a Shiv Temple.

Rohini Court Pulls Up Delhi Cops Over Failure To Control Jahangirpuri Violence
A Rohini court, on May 8, pulled up the Delhi police over their failure to control the Jahangirpuri clashes. Violence that had broken out in Jahangirpuri on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti. Many were left wounded in the incident. Cases of stone-pelting were also reported during the Hanuman Jayanti procession in the north-western area of Delhi. The court noted that the issue seems to have been brushed aside.

Assam Court To Take Up Jignesh Mevani's Bail Plea Today
A local court in Assam's Barpeta district will be taking up Gujarat MLA Jignesh Mevani's bail plea on 29th April. The controversial politician had been arrested again earlier this week for physically assaulting a police-woman, shortly after he had got a bail in a case related to his tweets targeting PM Narendra Modi. He has, however, insisted that he is simply being targeted out of political vendetta.

Mentally Challenged Man Hanged In Singapore Over Decade-Old Drug Case
A 34-year-old mentally challenged man was hanged till death in Singapore, in connection with more than a decade-old drug case. Nagaenthran K Dharmalingam had been convicted of importing heroin; and he was subsequently sentenced to death in 2010. He was scheduled to be executed last year, but it was deferred after his mother had, in a last-ditch attempt, filed another legal challenge. But it could not overturn the death sentence.

SC Rejects Plea Seeking Probe Into Ram Navami, Hanuman Jayanti Violence
The apex court has rejected a plea which demanded an inquiry into the Ram Navami and Hanuman Jayanti violence. The Justice Nageswara Rao-led bench told the lawyer to not expect any relief, and that the court would not grant, saying, "You want an inquiry to be headed by (a) former Chief Justice of India?... Dismissed." The petitioner had prayed for a committee to probe into the clashes.

Court Works Curtails After 2 Die Of COVID-19 In Mathura: Uttar Pradesh
Mathura district judiciary in UP curtailed its functioning, amid spike in COVID-19 cases on January 17. District Judge Rajeev Bharti, issued the order, restricting litigants and staff entry without judge's permission. The decision was taken as per the Allahabad High Court orders, after two COVID-19 deaths in the region. As per the official, the court will function while taking all the necessary precautions till further orders .

SC Extends Limitation Period For Filing Cases In View Of COVID Surge
The Supreme Court on January 10, restored its previous order to extend the limitation period till February 28 for filing cases before judicial and quasi-judicial fora in view of the alarming surge of COVID-19 cases. The order said that the relaxation has been given in view of arguments advanced by learned counsel, and impact of the surge of the virus on public-health. Notably, Attorney KK Venugopal supported the plea.
