Delhi HC Approves OTT Release Of 'Shamshera', Asks Makers To Deposit Rs 1 Cr

The Delhi High Court has allowed the release of Ranbir Kapoor-starrer film 'Shamshera' on OTT platforms subject to Yash Raj Films depositing Rs. 1 crore with its registry. On August 19, tice Jyoti Singh passed the orders on a lawsuit by Bikramjeet Singh Bhullar alleging infringement of his copyright in the literary work 'Kabu na chhadein Khet' by the filmmakers. However, with fine, the YRF can release it on OTT-platform.

Delhi Govt To Set Up Seperate Toilets For Transgenders; Work Underway

The state government of Delhi informed the Delhi High Court that work is underway for the creation is seperate toilets for people of the transgender community. Delhi government further stated that the work is being carried out in a fast track basis. The submissions have come as a response to a PIL filed seeking seperate washroom for the transgenders.

Unmarried Woman Can't Be Denied Abortion, Says Supreme Court

In a hearing, the Supreme Court said, a woman can't be denied an abortion because of her marital status. The matter came into the Apex Court, after the Delhi HC refused abortion permission to a 25-year-old woman, saying it amounts to killing a foetus. The Top Court reviewed the petition and rule out HC orders, and directed Delhi AIIMS to conduct medical tests, conducting abortion, if no life-risks.

Delhi HC Dismisses PIL Sought To Halt SpiceJet's Operations Due To 'Safety Concerns'

Delhi High Court denied a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) that asked the court to order SpiceJet Ltd to cease all flight operations in light of recent safety problems the low-cost carrier has encountered. After determining that there was no basis to admit the petition, a division bench declined to hear it. According to PIL filed, airline should suspend operations to avoid a major accident that might endanger lives of people.

Delhi HC Dismisses PIL Seeking To Stop Operations Of SpiceJet Flights Citing Safety Concerns

A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was filed in the Delhi HC seeking to stop the operation of SpiceJet flights on the country, citing safety concerns over certain recent incidents. Hearing the plea, the court dismissed the petition on the grounds that "the court cannot stop a particular airline from operating based on averments in a PIL and press clippings". The court then stated that DGCA is looking into recent occurrences.

Delhi HC Grants Bail To Elderly Woman Accused In Cheating Case

Bhagwati Sharma, a 77-year-old woman who was arrested in a cheating case, has been granted bail by Delhi High Court, on June 30. Sharma was arrested upon her return from Canada, and was sentenced to judicial custody since May 31. She allegedly cheated Rs 37 lakh, in an agreement to sale of a property worth Rs 3.08 crore. The bail was granted after a bond of Rs 50,000 was obtained.
