AltNews Co-Founds Files Petition In Delhi HC, Challenges His Judicial Custody

Arrested by the Delhi Police, the AltNews co-founder Mohammed Zubair, moved the Delhi High Court (HC) challenging his judicial custody, in 2018 sedition case. The matter has been listed for review before Justice Sanjeev Narula, on July 1. Notably, Zubair was alleged for posting an objectionable tweet against a Hindu deity. Notably, a trial court granted four-day judicial custody of remand, for further investigation into the case.

PIL Seeking 'One-Nation Education Board' Filed In Delhi HC

A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed in Delhi HC seeking to implement a uniform education system throughout the country. The petition pleads for a syllabus that is common for all entrance tests like JEE, NEET, CLAT, to name a few. Ashwini Kumar Upadhyay, the petitioner, stated that the "school mafias doesn't want a one-nation education board". She further stated that the current education system is only causing division.

PIL Filed In Delhi HC Against Demolition Of Primary School In Karol Bagh

A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed in the Delhi High Court seeking not to demolish the primary school at Bank Street, Karol Bagh, for the sake of construction of retail space, and a multi-level car parking, on April 30. According to the petition, NDMC proposed to construct the retail space in October 2021. The hearing has been scheduled on May 2.

AIIMS To Now Set Up 'Grievances Board' By Order Of Delhi HC: Nurses Strike

The Delhi High Court on April 27, directed the All India Institute for Medical Sciences (AIIMS) to set up a board, dedicated to hearing the grievances of the employees. The order has come after nurses of AIIMS called off their strike, on April 26. The court accredited AIIMS as an "institute of excellence", and that the functioning of it should not be hampered.

Delhi HC Issues Notice On PIL Seeking Review Of Criminal Procedure (Identification) Act

The Delhi High Court has issued a notice to the Central Government over a PIL seeking a review of the Criminal Procedure (Identification) Act, 2022. The petitioner, Harshit Goel, has prayed that Sections 2(1)(a) (iii), 2(1)(b), 3, 4, 5, 6 and 8 of this Act should be declared unconstitutional. The plea argues that bodily integrity is protected under Article 21, and that prisoners are also entitled to it.

London Pub Rape Case: Delhi HC Reserves Order On Plea Challenging Extradition

The Delhi HC reserved its order on the plea which was filed challenging the extradition proceedings initiated against a person accused for rape at London pub in 2017. The accused is a Portugese citizen of Indian origin. The petitioner was a chief manager at 'Two Rivers' Pub in Staines, London.
