Odisha Govt Announces Rs 445.75 Cr To Save Jubos From Electrocution
The Odisha government on October 1 allotted Rs 445.75 crore to power distribution companies in the state to take all precautionary measures to save elephants from being electrocuted. The money will be used to cover all naked overhead 11 kilovolts KV Lines here. Reportedly, poachers also use naked low tension (LT) power lines to kill the animals. Odisha has lost 7 jumbos in the last 10 months.

Naked Wire Kills Laborer; Uttarakhand Power Corporation MD Charged
The managing director of Uttarakhand Power Corporation Ltd. (UPCL) has been charged under IPC Section 304A causing death via ignorance on September 27. Balam, a daily wage laborer was electrocuted after unknowingly touching a low-hanging live wire on July 15, 2020 in Dehradun. His wife asserted that her husband died due to authorities' failure to fix dangling wires in the market.

3 Dead, 6 Injured As 9 Persons Electrocuted In UP Village
Three people died and six were injured due to electrocution after coming in contact with high-tension wires in Uttar Pradesh's Nagal Singhi village. The incident occurred during the installation of a bore pipe. Reportedly, the power switch feeder was on and as the pipe came in contact with the wires, nine of them received electric shocks, said Mukesh Mishra, Superintendent of Police.

Heavy Rainfall Claims 30 Lives In Mumbai
Heavy downpour has hit India’s financial capital Mumbai leaving 30 dead owing to landslides, building collapse, and electrocution. IMD has issued a red alert with a warning of heavy rains in the next 24 hours. Reportedly, several places are inundated with transport services facing difficulties. Besides, the intensity of rain has increased over the past years resulting in deaths, roads being flooded, and causing major traffic disturbances.

Tamil Nadu: Male Elephant Dies Of Electric Shock In Coimabatore
A male elephant died of electrocution on the outskirts of Coimbatore when it accidentally came into contact with an electric fence in a paddy field. On the information from Semmedu village locals, the Boluvampatti forest range officials discovered the high voltage electric fence was connected illegally. Filing a case under the Wild Life Offence Report against Durai alias Aruchamy, the authorities are in search of the absconding accused.

Chennai: Two Officials Suspended after Woman Dies of Electrocution
The Chennai Metropolitan Corporation suspended two officials on September 15, after a woman died of electrocution. Alima, a 35-year-old woman died after she stepped on a live wire lying on the road, near her house. However, the residents claim that they had already complained, yet no actions were taken.
