India's Covaxin Effective Against Delta+ Variant, Claims ICMR Study
According to the study done by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), India's Covaxin developed by Bharat Biotech is potent against the Delta Plus (AY.1) variant of the SARS-CoV2 virus. MP Has Highest COVID Seroprevalence, Kerala Lowest: ICMR Survey
A serology survey done by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) across 20 Indian states showed that at least two-thirds of the population have developed antibodies. Madhya Pradesh leads the chart with 79% seroprevalence, while Kerala leads the bottom with 44.4%. The survey was conducted between June 14 and July 6 and was shared by the Union Health Ministry on July 28.

India Registers 41,383 New Covid Cases In Last 24 Hours
India has registered 41,383 fresh Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, while the positivity rates remained at 3%. According to Union Health Ministry, including these new cases, India now stands at 3,12,57,720 coronavirus cases so far. Nearly 38,652 people have been recovered in the last 24 hours. According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 45.09 crore samples have been tested until July 21.

Scientists Predict Third Wave To Hit In Late-Aug
India will likely witness the Covid-19 third wave by the end of August as per the predictions by Samiran Panda, Senior ICMR Scientist. "So, there is a distinct possibility of the third wave because some states still have vulnerable populations," Panda said. As the possibility of the third wave seems inevitable, India will have to anticipate the signs in the next few days.

India Conducts Over 40 Crore COVID-19 Tests, Says ICMR
The Indian Council of Medical Research announced on June 26 that more than 40 crore COVID-19 tests have been administered in the country so far. Whereas the average number of tests conducted on a daily basis amounts to more than 18 lakh in June and India has tested 40,18,11,892 samples till June 25. ''This has been enabled by rapidly increasing testing infrastructure and capacity across the country,'' said ISMR.

48 Cases Of Delta-plus Reported In India; Maharastra Tops With 21
The Delta-plus variant also known as "variant of concern" reported 48 cases in 11 states of India. It is highly transmissible within confined areas according to the government, with 21 cases alone in Maharashtra. Indian Council of Medical Research has claimed that VoC “is present in 12 countries” and has increased from 10.3% in May to 51% in June. The efficacies of available vaccines are still under examination.

ICMR, Telangana Govt Plans To Deliver Vaccine Through Drones
In order to deliver the vaccine and medicine to inaccessible and far flung areas due to rough terrain, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and Telangana govt are planning to use drones. The ICMR have already approached drone companies with bids for the same. A study has been initiated by TS govt to understand the feasibility of delivering medicines and other medical supplies.

ICMR Drops Plasma Therapy From COVID Cure List; Calls It Ineffective

ICMR Chief Dr Bhargava Suggests 6-8 Week Lockdown To Curb Cases
Indian Council of Medical Research head Dr Balram Bhargava has advised COVID hotspot states to impose a 6-8 week lockdown to curb the rising number of cases. He said that the lockdown should continue in districts that have reported a 10% or above infection rate. Notably, major cities including New Delhi and Bengaluru have a positivity rate above 10%. He also accepted that the Centre's response was slightly delayed.
